Fifty-time ABT champ Neil Kaz asks, "Anyhow...why not make the bar pt with 41?"

I respectfully say to Mr. Kaz that I fell into the trap of making the 7pt. However, this play does not address White's two problems in this position.

One of White's issues is the stack of checkers on his 6pt which can be most effectively put into play with aces.

Another of White's issues is the problem of his back checkers on the 24pt. Although Black's offense is currently not formidable, it will almost certainly be stronger next turn. Now is the time to for White to split, while Black has only eight checkers in the zone.
