html tips: bullet lists

Thanks, Daniel! Omitting the "." does the trick. To flex what I've learned:
Bullet 1 Bullet 2 Bullet 3 Here's the same thing indented (bracketing with the unordered list code you suggested):
- Bullet 1
- Bullet 2
- Bullet 3
It seems that the ul code can be placed inside itself to create an embedded list:
- Bullet 1
- Bullet 1a
- Bullet 1b
- Bullet 1c
- Bullet 2
- Bullet 3
Here's square bullets:
- Bullet 1
- Bullet 2
- Bullet 3
And hollow-circle bullets:
- Bullet 1
- Bullet 2
- Bullet 3
Finally, adding layers of complexity:
- Bullet 1
- Bullet 1a
- Bullet 1b
- Bullet 1c
- Bullet 1c1
- Bullet 1c2
- Bullet 1c3
- Bullet 1c3a
- Bullet 1c3b
- Bullet 1c3c
- Bullet 2
- Bullet 3
What I experienced here, and in the past, leads me to believe that a "HTML guide for dummies" would be most welcome for this site. It's not just a matter of searching for the relevant help; it's also that the instructions you find might work for some sites/pages/situations but not for others. For example, the directions here showed the insertion of a dot/period before the "li." I don't see how I'm supposed to guess that it might work only if the dot is deleted, at least not at my level of HTML knowledge.
