I would count a cash as a win.

The notion of transforming cashes into some funny cubeless spread is surely a pure artifact of the history of bots. Can you imagine playing an actual game of backgammon in which, when someone passes a double, the players keep on playing the game but now with the cube removed from play? How bizarre is that? Knowing ahead of time that these are the rules, how would that affect the optimal checker and cube play prior to the "cash"? I can't imagine anyone ever thinking of a cash as anything other than a win if it weren't for the history of computer backgammon programs.
