Building our own prime is important in this sort of position, so if I'm going to play 24/23 with the 1 then I'm pretty sure 13/11 is a better 2 than either 24/22 or 23/21. So I'm not going to play either 24/23 24/22 or 24/21.

You didn't mention 13/11 6/5 as a possibility, but again, if I'm playing 6/5 with the 1 then I'm pretty sure 7/5 is better than 13/11.

So now I'm down to 7/5 6/5 versus 24/23 13/11. Between these two I'm not sure but I think I slightly prefer 7/5 6/5. Getting hit is unpleasant but it's not a disaster since we have equal board strength and a bunch of return shots, and Black has only eight checkers in the zone. Making the 5-point is important here (as is unstacking the 6-point) and we may not get another chance. 24/23 13/11 does two good things, splitting against Black's prime and helping to build our own, so I think it's probably an O.K. play, but my guess is that the 5-point is better. Sometimes upgrading the bar-point to the 5-point is worth exposing ourselves to a double direct shot, and here we're exposed to only a single direct shot.
