Top priority here is clearing the 8-point safely. Second priority is to point on White's blot.

Hitting loose is clearly too reckless especially when gammons don't count, so 8/6 is clear and the choice is between 7/6 and 4/3. Since White owns the 5-point and 8 – 5 = 3, our potentially bad rolls are those with a 3. 3-1, 3-2, and 3-4 seem to play about equally well after either choice. 3-3, 5-3, and 6-3 all play better after 7/6, with 6-3 playing very poorly after 4/3 (must leave a direct shot). After 4/3 we have more pointing rolls, but the pointing rolls also allow us to clear the 8-point so I don't think this is enough compensation for the loss after 3-3, 5-3, and 6-3.
