I'm not sure whether it's right to step up to 23. It likely only "freezes" White's 8pt for one turn, but it increases Blue's vulnerability beyond that. In addition, White's outside position is stripped and if he rolls a covering 4, he may have to give up something else -- meaning Blue may get some counterplay anyway.

Given White's stripped midpoint, it might be right to leave the blot on the 14pt. White's 2s are nicely duplicated and if he hits Blue controls the outfield. Since White is ahead in the race, this is a strong advantage. This also gives Blue another (small) chance to make the 9 or 10 point. I'm not sure about this play, but I've noticed XG doing these sorts of things against high-anchor holding games, even when the race is close.

With those things in mind, I'll go with 13/7 6/5, creating flexibility everywhere and keeping Blue's laggard back out of harms way. My second choice is 14/18, with pretty much the same reasoning.
