Well after all it is not simple to predict.
With 64-bit you have obviously larger registers and you have *more* registers with 64-bit. Especially x86 has a very small set of registers compared to other modern CPUs. That's one coin of the medal. The other is that the adresses now have 64-bit too, that means it increases the load on the memory system which is nowadays a bottleneck. So unless you need more than 2-4 GB RAM, where 64-bit is needed, you have to measure how the speed of a 64-bit version compares to an 32-bit version and it might change from OS to OS too.
