We should have the same settings and mine have been running ok.

1. You start a rollout and it tells you the estimated time to completion. This time can be off because of virus scan, windows file indexing taking up cycles, etc but it should be close (+ - 1 hour).

2. The monitor goes black. This is fine and if you just move the mouse it should come back on.

I left mine running GNU rollouts when I went to LA and it was fine and still churning NG rollouts after four days of not being touched.

Go to Control Panel > View by Category > Large Icons > Power Options > It should be set for "High performance" and if you click on "change plan settings" it show "put the computer to sleep" > "never".

What exactly are the problems that you are having?
