This post is about the second roll. I am unaware of a change in style through the years that has altered the thinking on these second roll moves as a group.

Two reference points for second rolls would be Dwek in 1975 and Robertie in 1998. Both writers' choices in those years are noted in Backgammon Galore's 2nd roll rollouts here:

Not having gone through the Galore notes and compared them with the latest rollouts, I did note that Robertie's 1998 recommendation for 61P 41? was 24/23 13/9, same as now, but a change from the 13/9 6/5 that he recommended in Advanced Backgammon Problem 1 (1991).
