There is way too much scientific evidence that we were not created "in God's image", but that we evolved from lower life forms which evolved from lower life forms, ad infinitum....

Why is it difficult to believe that we are created in God's image, by a God who made the universe of matter in a single act of creation? We say it took seven days, for lack of any understanding of the length of eons or the meaning of time, but the point is he never took his eye off it or multi-tasked; he drew light from darkness, land from sea, and life from life, until he reached the goal he'd had in mind from the moment he first said, "Let there be light."

The swiftness and sureness of evolution, its breath-taking jumps after many adaptations and micro-evolutions, clearly shows to my mind that there was a purpose and a will behind it, and also a love of the creator for his creation.

This will, and this love, are what we call God; and if we are Christians, as I am, we believe his love was revealed to us in his son, Jesus Christ, as we know him from the four canonical Gospels.
