Volatility is a huge part of deciding if to double or not, much more than the actual strength of your position.
Volatility put in simple terms means that on the next exchange of rolls there are a few rolls that will massively increase the strength of your position. If you can find a few of those were he has a big big pass on the next exchange you should double almost any position as long as you have an edge.
Typical examples are rolls with produces strong hits, rolls wich jump a prime, rolls which makes a strong point, or rolls that makes his bearoff position hopeless.
What Im partly is saing is that the decision of wether or not to double is to a large extent independent of the absolute strenght of your position.
