Kocagammon backgammon variant

It sounds interesting. I wonder how much of a problem it is to keep track of how many times you've played on a particular board. Offhand, I'd guess that it's very easy, especially for beginners, to forget to move the dice cup (or whatever it is you're using to keep track of the "state").

How much of a problem is it to ditch the no-three-in-a-row requirement? That would be more like a sum of games in the combinatorial game theory sense.
