UBK: If one wants to play a variance reduced match there is a perfectly fine way to do so (use variance reduced result) without the downsides being present (for those who really would rather play Backgammon) of the PR approach.
Your argument is disingenuous. VRR is a GREAT way to measure the "results" of a particular match. Where it fails is an attempt to quantify the skill level of a player.
The "problems" with PR are well documented. Many of the issues with PR are obviated if we don't think about the PR of an individual match, but an AGGREGATE PR over many matches.
