Backgamee bearin play

I have found the terminology "holder/holdee" and "backgamer/backgamee" convenient, though I haven't seen anyone else use it. Stick doesn't like my terminology, but the only other concise terminology I've seen in the case of backgames is to call the backgamee the "defender," implying that the backgamer is the attacker. The problem with the word "defender" is that I don't think it's obvious whether it's the backgamer or the backgamee who is on the defensive. By contrast, a "backgamer" is surely the one playing the backgame and a "backgamee" is therefore the other player.
