I'm not sure why you're posting to my previous post -- I never suggested the 'flat dice' rule would save 2 minutes per match. (I think it was Dorn?). That figure seems way high to me, but if some people are indeed experiencing that, it would explain their passion for the change! It might also suggest they should buy a different style of backgammon set, or different size dice, or roll differently.

I'd guess the re-roll required of cocked dice takes maybe 4-5 seconds -- and since apparently it happens most often during the bearoff, may scarcely eat into 'Bank' time at all with a 12-second delay.
