resetting the delay

As with Neilkaz's query, I must refer you to the relevant UKBGF/EUBGF rule:
4.3 Game clocks
(v) INVALID ROLLS -
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, where an invalid roll occurs and in order not to adversely prejudice the player on roll, either player may pause the clock and/or restart the delay time as he reasonably deems appropriate. Where there is disagreement as to the validity of the roll, the clock may be paused by either player until the disagreement is resolved.
So, it is also possible that the players might just stop the clock, then restart it at the appropriate time, which I would think should be when the roller rerolls and the dice come to rest. Depending upon the clock used it may well be quicker and easier to operate each players clock button rather than pause the clock.
Personally, I think it seems 'really unfair' that one player pokes the dice out gently into the middle of the board, well away from chequers or the side wall, whereas his opponent - who is much more concerned with generating a random roll - rolls the dice harder, thereby experiencing loss of clock time with the increase in cocked dice. This will be the case even with the new USBGF 'on chequer' rule, though clearly less so than with the old rule. There is also the fact that, even when his dice do not cock, it simply takes longer for his dice to roll and come to rest.
