I don't think those rulings were due to added ambiguity. In fact, Albert as much as said that his two were not. There may well be additional rulings, but that's often a byproduct of change.

I don't think Stick's tactic would be particularly effective. It would only really have benefit if your opponent is very low on time. But in that case, I could do the same thing with the old rule -- provided I'm not equally low on time.

As I said, I don't think the change was necessary. There is obviously a downside to making unnecessary changes. But most of the arguments against the rule seem silly. And, having used the rule a bit, I really prefer it to the old. I really didn't expect to, but I do.

My biggest concern is really that there is so much more about the new rule set that we should be upset about. This rule change is, in my opinion, a non-issue.
