Ok Bob, on a closer reading of the new rule it seems that the flexible definition of "flat" only comes into play on dimpled or rimmed checkers, which the ones in Ken's photos are not, so the "4" is clearly cocked. The 3 looks "flat" so I suppose it is valid. I still think that the new rule adds a lot of extra ambiguity and potential for dispute. Kind of like how the NFL has evolved to the point where every other reception seems to require an interminable amount of replay review. Not the correct direction IMHO.
