How about we say the 2-away 2-away match is cubeless and therefore since the doubling cube is no longer needed, we could use the doubling cube as such a marker?

Perhaps somebody clever could develop an enclosure for the doubling cube that could be placed over the cube to provide an indication that in this special case, the doubling cube is not being used in a normal fashion, but rather as evidence that the cube is being used as a marker that a proposal has been made to switch the match to double match point?

I suspect the inventor of such a device could make a small fortune.
