Well, White 6 out, followed by miss, is disastrous, and that kind of swing is bigger than you get by multiplying the 60-vs-85% difference by the chance you get the second checker. After you hit, you still may get a second checker: there's a direct shot at a second and/or third checker on immediate 11, 12, 13, plus decent chances at a second checker after Blue hits with other 1s. That equity may repeat over two, sometimes even three rolls. I think it's worth it to cut Blue's chance to escape.
