Dear Backgammon Community

I have been reading and tracking this thread, and sometimes contributing a post. I no longer know what to say about it. Accusations of cheating, some data from sites, some random speculation, MET or bot consulting, its all there.
It is my firm belief that ultimately, the only person that we have to answer to when it comes to moral activity is ourselves. A community may shun you, you can say whatever you want, people will form opinions, and make judgments about you, however at the end of the day, it is the standard that we set for ourselves in this regard that matters. There are some people that carry themselves far above this. Most notably in this thread here: Does David Rockwell, Neil Kazaross, Ed O, Chuck, etc have an opinion? I am sure they do, but they aren't commenting. They are holding themselves to a higher standard, and choosing to ignore this.
We should all strive to hold ourselves morally accountable to the highest standard. This is what the game of backgammon is about. Its about honesty, fairness, and competing with skill. If you don't think player X is playing fairly online, then don't play him. Hold yourselves to a higher standard. Name calling; accusations of cheating; speculation about how or what - just be above it.
On the flip side of that, if you want to win so badly that you have to use tools for online play, then you already know you aren't playing fair, and you will have to carry that internally. You will be discovered, it will come out, your reputation will be tarnished, the price will always be paid. Things that are tied to winning (like reputation) will be affected. Acknowledge what you are doing, and stop.
So, please, backgammon community, lets stop this, and be better. One day it might be you that's the top player, would you like people questioning your integrity? For the sake of the betterment of the game, lets do better.
