I think any system should be simple, automated and the responsibility for data input pushed out to the tournament directors. Of course, it would still require a lot of effort and chasing up from the administrators. It would only be worth while doing if there is a strong demand from the top players themselves.

I agree that the Larsen-Silliman rating system could be an excellent model going forward.
