In Response To: Definition of 'Gammonish'? (Casper Van der Tak)

Well said Casper....I have some different thoughts however. My skills as a theoretician are doubtful, as I am often mistaken. However, I will toss my thoughts upon the board and see if they stand up to scrutiny.

If 1a drops, his MWC goes to about 51% If he takes and loses a single game, the same thing happens, obviously. So 3a ends up with MWC near 49%, so each single win is worth about 1/2% in MWC. Each potential gammon win increases MWC by 1%. Therefore, I would suggest that 1a should drop if and only if

MWC(3a) = .49 x (single wins for 3a) + 1 x (gammon wins for 3a) > 49%

Use more accurate MET figures if you desire.

Does it make sense to anyone else, or should i be forever banished from such theoretical musings?
