No. Very much of the outcome depends on the choice of the appropriate statistical model. Casper has indicated what model to take: Some that can deal with binary dependent variables (success/failure, victory/defeat, 1/0), like probit, logit, logistic. I think the wrong choice of the dependent (outcome) variable and the wrong model led you to the (probable) misconclusion. Simply put, you've probably measured something else, not the factors influencing victory in backgammon.
