In Response To: PR or Luck? Here is the real answer if you are looking for (Long but informative) (Matt Cohn-Geier)

- When I finished my first sentence with "how terrible the condition is", I did not mean the terrible condition is that luck dominates in short term and PR dominates in long one. I meant that, in short term, luck is the only thing that matters but nothing else. In other words, if you tell me what the luck figure is after a given match, I could tell you who the winner is no matter what their PR is in the design window that I was talking about (with 95% confidence level).

- Couple of questions about the study that you mentioned: in that heads up study, how many players with that PR criteria were included? Do they played their matches back to back (one after the other)? about that 120 matches study, how many different players were included in the study? is 120 the whole population or just a sample out of a large population that you are talking about? if it's a sample, can you tell me how they were collected? over a course of the specific tournaments or ...?

- Can you tell me what did you exactly mean by those intervals (those already include negative numbers!)? the definition of CI is as follows as you know: mean +- t*(S/sqrt(n)). Can you tell me what the mean is in your study and also the variance of the error?

- if you have the actual study written, I would be happy to read it over since the info you brought up lacks a lot in the first sight in terms of the procedure and analysis.
