This is not what I would call a bug. If the only problem is that XG does not select the strategically optimum play, that's not a programming error, and therefore not a bug.

But yes, this is a known issue. You may have missed my post about XG racking up a PR of 17.4. See also Bob Wachtel's new edition of his book In the Game Until the End, which has lots of discussion about the coup classique and XG's play. (Don't be confused by the "Volume 2" label of Bob's book; it really means "2nd edition, revised and expanded".)

And now, if we're lucky, hominid will chime in explaining how XG's play here is evidence of its brilliance and how we inferior carbon-based life forms should just be grateful for the privilege of worshiping it.
