ruling on premature cubing

Clearly, the premature double cannot stand in this case. And yes, the ("silly") debate about whether it should stand next turn is more than feasible!
It would seem logical that, whatever is the ruling on premature rolls, this should also apply on premature cubes. Therefore, if a player cubes when it is his opponents turn, and the rules say that the opponent can decide whether a premature ROLL does or does not stand, then should he not also have this choice with a premature cube? In other words, premature actions are treated the same.
The ABT rule is, however:
4.6 PREMATURE ACTIONS. The opponent of a player who rolls prematurely shall complete his turn and then either let the premature roll stand or require a reroll. The opponent of a player who doubles prematurely shall complete his turn and then pass or take.
I think the cube aspect of that rule is the same with nearly every other set of rules. Not sure why. Giving the opponent the choice of whether to allow a premature roll has the effect of dissuading such actions; why not also apply this principle to premature cubes?
Going back to the hypothetical case Stick raises, if premature cubes ALWAYS stand, then the premature cuber - even post cocked dice - indeed, surely MUST cube next turn? (Unless, of course, the game was ended by his pass of an opponents double just before. In which case the argument could extend to the next game; that WOULD be silly!)
If the rule was that the opponent decided on the validity of a premature cube (as with a premature roll, say) then why should he not also have that option with the post cocked dice cube? Perhaps it was a bad cube.
FWIW, in a Chicago Point poll, giving the opponent the choice whether a premature ROLL stood was easily the most popular option (112 votes, 44%). Requiring the roll to always stand was third (59 votes, 23%).
