Not to resurface this post when it has essentially died but I wanted to address it when it was posted but I simply haven't had the time lately. I knew that "I believe the bodybuilders have gay for pay but having seen pictures of most of the giants it probably wouldn't be a good income" would likely be not viewed in a good light by some people. It rubbed me the wrong way mainly because I'm huge and it would be a great source of income for me.
Before deleting or editing the post I took time I didn't have to investigate what the hell 'gay for pay' even was. I think it's fair to say that most people probably weren't too familiar with the idea/practice of it. I didn't know what it was. To you, you may have been asserting a random fact but to everyone else the phrase sure doesn't sit well. After researching it it seems to be very prevalent in professional body building. It's more or less the idea that otherwise straight people accept money, gifts, etc... in order to fund their bodybuilding lifestyle. (drugs)
I think Neil may have taken it in a way you didn't mean though I'm not sure. Only Neil can tell us that. That's how I think a lot of people would take it though not being familiar with it...as if you were calling bodybuilders gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It still came off as disparaging. Anyway, I don't think/hope you didn't mean anything of the sort originally. The mess of posts after that weren't good for anyone and I won't rehash them.
Let's all just let this one go. Backgammon is such a small group of players all of us ending up having problems with everyone else it seems like at some point. It is wildly tiresome and one of the reasons I don't go to many tournaments any more. It isn't much fun, period.
