position of cube during Crawford game

Good advice. I will no longer remove the cube from the board when it is Crawford, so if my opponent forgets to cube in the next game, I have no responsibility to remind him.
As I am sure you are aware, this is not a problem that happens often in the Open Division, but I spend many hours a week advising beginners and intermediates and have been telling them all to take the cube off the table at Crawford. I will stop giving this advice for the reasons stated.
I am also often asked questions about the rules and ethics of both money play and tournament play, and my first response is always to suggest they read the rules carefully and understand them and ask questions. When they play in a chouette or money game, they need to see a written copy of the local rules if they exist (they usually dont) and if not, discuss the rules and policies with people in the group, and when in doubt, ask questions.
