I've found that people tend to have a sense of when they are being patronized. It's hard to imagine this guy getting any enjoyment from having to endure the situations you describe. To me this falls into the categories:

1. compulsive gambling. Playing someone who plays because deep down he wants to lose isn't gambling. It is stealing. Every time I've matched up with a CG I felt bad about it afterward. I still feel bad about it.

2. Sandbagging, stalling, hustling. People who do this should be careful. You don't want to wind up Munsoned out in the middle of nowhere while Bill Murray rides off laughing in the dust. Seriously, once a person figures out he had no chance to win, your chances of getting stiffed skyrocket. Hustling 101: You make more money showing your speed than hiding it.
