Thanks Mike.. they all work fine. Also I should mention after Michael's comment that the original text files also worked.

The problem was that I right clicked on the original txt links and selected 'save as' which resulted in a seemingly fine download i.e. 'Masayuki Mochizuki-Razi 7 point match 3-7-2015 set 1.txt'

But they were not direct download links. What was actually happening is that it was downloading the whole Dropbox html page where the text file was hosted, and automatically giving the html a .txt filename extension (which explains why the 'txt' files would not open in gnubg).

In short, they were Dropbox links, not direct links to txt files - so don't make my mistake (right click / save as).

Mat file uploads are still useful - thanks again for putting them up.
