In Response To: Puzzle (Tom Keith)

Tom's puzzle appears on page 58 of Peter Winkler's book Mathematical Puzzles: A Connoisseur's Collection, where it is phrased as follows: A phone call is made from an East Coast state to a West Coast state, and it's the same time of day at both ends. How can this be?

Here's another puzzle from the same section of Winkler's book to whet your appetite: If you fly due south out of Key West, Florida, which South American country will you hit first?
