Cool idea, but it make take too long unless, maybe, you go in $5.00 increments. But it's a neat concept.
My brother and I bid for everything, and I love that system. That's how we bet on things like the superbowl. We establish the amount, and I say I'll take New England plus 7. My brother can accept the bet, or he can make a better offer and say: I'll take New England plus 6. And so on until someone says give.
We both always want to bet on the Bulls. So what do we do. We don't change the spread. If the Bulls are favored by 6 at home, that's the line. But we big for who gets the Bulls.
I will say I will take the Bulls (-6) and pay you $105 to $100. He takes the bet or makes a better offer.
In New York, two players tied for winning the Erhan backgammon board in the Consolation of the Open Division. I held an auction to settle it.
I told both players they can buy an identical board for $500 and they must big for it by saying how much cash they are willing to give the other person for the board. I gave them the choice of doing this or flipping a coin.
The first bidder said he would give the other guy $100 cash and take the board. They kept bidding in $20 increments until finally one gave up and took $200.00 and let the other guy have the board. Certainly a fair way to do it.
