Most 'Coveted' Tournament - Follow Up

Is Monte Carlo really the most prestigious tournament out there amongst backgammon players? In other words, I know 'you' want to win Monte Carlo because it probably has the biggest prize pool and it's labeled the 'World Championship' and you can tell your friends who know absolutely nothing about backgammon that you're 'World Champion' and that sounds really cool but is it really the best tournament? Is it really the tournament you want to win as a backgammon player, not for the prize pool or the mock fame, but because of the status of the tournament? Is it the tournament you'd most like to attend without the title of World Champion being attached to it? Is it even in your top 5 then?
