I knew those stats even before I made my previous post. The statistic that I didn't know was the number of backgammon players who play in tournaments. Do you happen to have a good estimate of that figure? I was guesstimating that if you computed the percentages, it would come out in the same ballpark. This is not even trying to take into account that there's probably a lot more sociological incentive to get a chess GM title than to get a public 3.5 PR.
