Tim, I would respectfully urge you to check the chess stats to see just how many chess GMs there are now. Then look at how many bg players are averaging under 3.5. You can virtually count the latter on one hand, so to speak.

Also, chess-like titles are instantly recognisable by the backgammon layperson, but the fact that chess titles are based on results is just a reflection of the different characteristics of each game. (How do you get a bot to say a chess player played 'world class' if the player lost the game 0-1 ?).
