Bob, do you have any examples of positions where you gain by waiting until it is actually a pass, but the you know your opponent will take? I have written a few articles over the years in which I showed that in a four-roll bearoff, if you knew your opponent would take the three-roll, but drop a two-roll, failing to redouble was a clear error.

In live cube games I would think the imperative to double in timely fashion even clearer. Late takers tend to make redoubling errors, either waiting too long, because their basic vision is skewed, or too early, because they are steamers. Either way, if you deny them access to the cube, you deny them the opportunity to err.
