Keep Doing What You’re Doing

After making the 5pt, I see two alternatives. Making the bar point is not one of them. Because you have only one checker back, it is unnecessarily risky to leave a direct shot on the 8pt.

These are the two choices I like:

  1. Pursue your priming advantage by bringing your builder forward to the 9pt. This leaves the runner in relative safety back on the 24pt. Hopefully, he can escape later.
  2. Push the runner up to escape position on the 22pt. If you leave it on the 24pt, it might be primed when your opponent rolls. Moving up forces the action at a time when you have an advantage in board strength.
It’s hard to know which approach is better. Since the prime-building is going so well, I would probably work on that. Interrupting it to force an exchange of hits will cause you to lose the initiative.

If you can make the bar point, it may never be necessary to escape your runner. You might win with the cube.

Mike
