Ripping two off is definitely out of the question. It looks like ripping one is too, but let’s count the shots. After playing 5/off, our blotting numbers are 66, 55, 44, 33, 63, 53, and 43. In addition, 32 leaves a gap. If we play 5/1 4/3 instead, our blotting numbers are 63, 53, 43, 33, and 32.
This is closer than I thought, 10 shots (plus a gap-leaving number) to 9. The extra checker off would be nice, but I am going to opt for maximizing safety.
This is getting ugly, but we are still huge favorites not to be on the bar when we roll two turns from now.
