i'll take a stab at this.... I would suggest the priority is to close all open points, and to prevent the opponent from making the two point. If we get hit, it just messes up the opponents timing a little bit, making it more likely for the opponent to crunch a little earlier, or if we hit coming on, we inhibit the opponent from establishing their board further. So i would play 6-2, slotting the 2 pt, 12-8, giving me 5s, 6s, and 7s (30 shots) to cover my blot on the 2pt if i'm not hit.
