Your experience differs from mine, then. I know some otherwise pretty good players who grossly underestimate their equity in holding games and would drop this.

If you don't double this sort of position against very bad players, then surely you don't have a lot of hard data on which to base your hypothesis that very bad players never drop this cube? Or did you do this in the past and keep statistics about it?

Regarding large errors, I have definitely made large errors in this sort of game myself, and still do. I haven't kept statistics, though.
