The Chaos of the Dice -- A Backgammon Hustler's Quest to Gain an Edge

Konstantin, I was talking about speed backgammon there... for 2-ply, you'd have to go through 441 combos of dice, you don't do that in speed.
You're probably just thinking about your move, and then your own next move (which correctly is 2 ply ahead), but disregarding your opponents in between move. That makes it a 1 ply analysis for all practical purposes. And typically (in speed at least) I imagine that people never do the full 21 spread, but do rough categories instead (like: opponent dance (16 numbers), enter (9 numbers) or enter and hit (11 numbers) - then for each of these 3 categories, you look similar on your rolls) I wouldn't consider that "true" 2-ply analysis, at least not in speed.
But maybe it's just me who's a slow thinker ;-)
