Correct. Congratulations!

The puzzle that ended up being used in the MIT Mystery Hunt was called Turnary Reasoning. As with many Mystery Hunt puzzles, it comes with no instructions, only vague hints. I will say, however, that the final answer to the puzzle is a common English word. You will need to know how to play the card game Magic: The Gathering to solve the puzzle to completion, but it's pretty fun just to solve the chess and checkers parts. Two of the chess puzzles are very difficult (for anyone other than a chess problem specialist) but there are no dirty tricks or obscure rules involved, just intricate logical reasoning.
