History of Backgammon - the game as we know it

In Response To: History of Backgammon - the game as we know it (Jake Jacobs)

According to history section of "The Backgammon Book" the Oxford Universal Dictionary lists 1645 as the date. I don't have the dictionary but if anyone does perhaps they could check the entry? Next time I visit the British Library I will check this out.
