I've devoted too much time, to say the least, to the opening game in backgammon. I feel that since in absolutely every game of backgammon you play there will be an opening sequence, you should do you best not to squander equity at this early stage in the game, especially since it's something that can be learned by rote. Memorizing this will not only improve your game and give you more confidence but may help you recognize situations where your opponent is too aggressive or too passive. If you have any questions, comments, or would like to see something rolled out further, please let me know by posting in the feedback section of my forums which can be found here:  bgonline forums
